CODE OF CONDUCT
Code of Conduct for all PIDfest 2024 attendees
The PIDfest Steering Committee is dedicated to providing a welcoming and supportive environment for all participants, regardless of background or identity. We do not tolerate behaviour that is disrespectful to our volunteers or attendees or that excludes, intimidates, or causes discomfort to others. We do not tolerate discrimination or harassment of any kind.
Everyone who participates in PIDfest is required to conform to this code of conduct. It applies when you sign up to or join any PIDfest activity. It applies to all activities including, but not limited to, webinars, events, email lists and online forums. By participating, you indicate your acceptance of the code and any procedures by which PIDfest resolves any incidents that violate the code of conduct.
The PIDfest Steering Committee, comprising staff from the National Library of Technology of the Czech Republic (NTK) and the Australian Research Data Commons (ARDC), are responsible for enforcing the code of conduct. All reports will be jointly reviewed by the NTK and ARDC and will be kept confidential.

gracefully accept constructive criticism
focus on what is best for the whole community
show courtesy and respect towards other activity participants
keep your PIDfest ID badges on you in a visible way at all times during the conference.
These social rules provide further recommendations for productive interactions.

Examples of unacceptable behaviour include:
written or verbal comments which have the effect of excluding people on the basis of membership of any specific group

Reporting Breaches of the Code
If you believe that someone is violating this code of conduct, please report it to a PIDfest conference co-chairs directly or using our Code of Conduct Violation Incident Report Form.
The PIDfest steering committee members will promptly and confidentially examine all incidents reported before, during, and after the conference. We reserve the right to take actions we deem necessary at any time to remedy disruptive behaviour that renders the conference experience unsafe for participants.
Consequences of Unacceptable Behaviour
Participants asked to stop any inappropriate behaviour are expected to comply immediately.
If a participant engages in behaviour that violates this code of conduct, the PIDfest Steering Committee representatives (or their designees) may take any action it deems appropriate, including warning the offender, exclusion from the current and/or future activity and/or community, contacting local authorities as needed, or contacting a representative from the offender’s institution, and engaging in formal anti-harassment procedures.
Retaliation against any person who files a complaint in good faith, or assists in the investigation of such a complaint, is also a violation of this policy and may also be subject to disciplinary action.
